Town Hall Annexe

The redevelopment of the locally listed Town Hall Annexe in East Ham involved the transformation of a 1939-built civic building into modern residential use. The project included a change of use from commercial to residential and a significant vertical extension—adding two new floors to the original three-storey structure to create a five-storey building.

Extensive cut-and-carve structural alterations were undertaken to accommodate 40 new apartments, comprising a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes. The design sensitively balances the preservation of historic character with the demands of high-quality, contemporary living.

This project was shortlisted for Social Value Project of the Year at the Building Magazine Awards 2024, recognising its community impact and contribution to local regenerations.
