Graduate Design Co-ordinator

About the Role

As a Graduate Design Coordinator, you will support the design management function by helping to coordinate design activities across consultants and contractors. You will assist in tracking design progress against programme, ensuring compliance with contractual, statutory and technical requirements, facilitating design reviews, and assisting in issue resolution to help drive timely delivery of project design information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordination and delivery of design outputs across all project stages. 

  • Ensure designs are commercially viable, and buildable within budget. 

  • Review all tender documentation including specifications, ERs, planning approvals, and drawings. 

  • Produce and maintain the “Design Risk & Opportunity Schedule” and ensure early risk identification. 

  • Monitor and update the Design Programme / IRS in alignment with construction and procurement schedules. 

  • Communicate delays or design issues proactively to the wider project team. 

  • Maintain a robust Change Control tracker to ensure design consistency with tender pricing. 

  • Ensure all drawings standards and are suitable for site execution. 

  • Support the close-out of design stages including planning, building control, warranty, and certification requirements. 

  • Support the preparation of agendas and documentation for Design Team Meetings 

  • Collaborate with the Regional Design Lead and DM to review progress and resolve issues during Design Review Meetings. 

  • Ensure all actions are tracked and closed out ahead of the next review cycle. 

  • Manage and mentor Project Document Controllers, supporting their development and enforcing best practices. 

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and procedural compliance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • A BTEC in Building Studies, Building Engineering or Building Management or a HNC / HND / Degree in

  • Construction Management or Architecture (including an industrial placement).

  • Highly organised and methodical approach to Design Delivery.

  • Excellent project management skills must manage and drive multiple work streams simultaneously.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills.

  • Excellent numeric and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to keep up to date with new technologies including software, social media and branding initiatives.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Self-motivated, proactive, flexible and reliable.

  • Advanced computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Auto CAD and Microsoft Project Planner.
